Mr. Johnny IV Rhodes, Jr. is a Washington, D.C. native who founded Rhodes Construction in 2003 and The Can in 2017. After purchasing and remodeling his first home, he realized there was a need for construction companies that could consistently provide high-quality work, environmentally conscious materials, and on-time delivery. With that in mind, Johnny leads a team of skilled professionals with extensive industry experience and expertise who have gained a reputation for their outstanding level of service. Johnny’s strategic vision has been key to the company’s growth and expansion. Under his leadership the company continues to differentiate itself from competitors with a diverse service portfolio which enables his team to develop comprehensive solutions in response to unique customer requirements.
Johnny’s roots run deep in the DC and Maryland area. He attended Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C. where he was a standout basketball player and was named All-Met Player of the Year. He then went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Maryland at College Park where he also continued his extraordinary basketball career as a four-year starter who helped lead the Terrapins to three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. To this day he still holds ACC records for steals per game and per season and during his time at UMD he was selected for All-ACC Honors. In 2012 Johnny was named an ACC Legend and was honored by UMD by having his jersey hung in the rafters at UMD’s XFINITY Center. After leaving UMD Johnny continued his remarkable basketball career, playing overseas for various international teams as well as the world renowned Harlem Globetrotters.
Johnny firmly believes in giving back to the community he grew up in and supported him. He started the Johnny Rhodes Foundation which provides mentoring and enrichment programs to underserved youth in the Washington metropolitan area through academic and athletic activities.
